Recently, a customer contacted us about a project they were working on in Antarctica in which they were collecting data on their iPad using the FormConnect app but needed to store it on another device. Normally, they would connect to the Internet and export the data to a cloud based service such as Dropbox or email it to their home base. However, Internet connectivity can be unreliable in Antarctica and they were looking for an alternative solution.
With the latest version of Mac OS, you can now share files between your iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) and your Mac. This is done via AirDrop which uses Bluetooth to create a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi network between the two devices. There are Mac and iOS settings to configure but once setup, a form can be exported from the iPad to the Mac.
