Importing Data Into the FormConnect App

While many users of the FormConnect app are familiar with exporting data, not everyone knows that you can also import data into the app. Importing a CSV file into an existing form allows you to create new records efficiently.

To ensure a successful import, keep these three key points in mind:

Key Factors for Successful Imports:

  1. Match Column and Field Names: Ensure the column headers in your CSV file precisely match the field names in your FormConnect form. This ensures accurate data placement.
  2. Include Primary Field Data: Your CSV must contain data for the primary field of your form, which typically establishes the unique record identifier. This could be a date, site name, or any other designated field.
  3. Adhere to Date Format: Dates within your CSV file should be formatted as YYYY/MM/DD for successful import.

By following these simple guidelines, you can quickly and efficiently populate your FormConnect forms with existing data, saving you valuable time and effort. Below are some screenshots  that highlight the CSV file shown in a spreadsheet, after the file has been saved to the Files app, selecting the Share option and choosing which FormConnect to import the CSV file and lastly populating the form into the FormConnect app.
