Keeping Your FormConnect App Up-to-Date

There isn’t a week that goes by in which we don’t receive an email support question as to why their FormConnect app is experiencing problems with some basic functionality. It could be exporting a form or taking a photo or saving a record. Our response is almost always the same. “Are you running the latest version of the FormConnect app”? 90% of the time, the user experiencing this problem is running an older version that had not been updated in years.

A little known secret that many people don’t realize is when Apple introduces a major update (iOS 12, 13, 14, etc.) each September, it often breaks things that were working fine previously with a 3rd party app. The app developer through no fault of their own must address these issues and release updates to fix them.

If the user does not have “app updates” enabled on their iPad and iPhone (see below) or check the App Store periodically for updates, then when a new iOS update is released, there is good chance that you will start to experience problems with the FormConnect app.

Note: The latest version of the FormConnect app is 2.7.5. You can verify the version that you are running by opening the app and tapping on the blue gear button in the lower right corner of the app’s home screen.
