iOS 8 has a new default setting called “Predictive” which adds a new menu bar on the keyboard. It attempts to predict the appropriate word when typing. The downside of this feature is it takes up space and can overlap the text field hiding the cursor. I don’t find a lot of value in this feature and would recommend turning this setting OFF.
