Creating checkboxes and dropdown lists serve a very similar function in that they both allow you to make a selection from a list of choices. The primary difference between these two field types is in how much screen real estate to allocate in designing the form. Checkboxes takes up more space but are visible whereas dropdown values are hidden until you select the item.
