Streamline data collection in public settings with Kiosk Mode

Kiosk mode is designed to streamline data collection on iPads used in public settings. It’s supported with both the FormConnect Pro and FormConnect Pro+ apps. Here’s how it works:

Enabling Kiosk Mode:

  • An authorized user with administrative access can activate kiosk mode within the FormConnect Pro app settings. This involves entering a password to activate.

Limited User Interface:

  • Once activated, kiosk mode hides most of the standard buttons on the user interface. Users will typically only see the active form on the screen, along with a few essential buttons:
    • Kiosk Mode: This button is used to enter and exit kiosk mode (requires a password).
    • Submit: Allows users to submit a completed form after filling it out.
    • Clear: Enables users to start over and erase any partially filled data in the form.

Enhanced Security:

  • Kiosk mode restricts access to other functionalities within the FormConnect Pro app. Users cannot view previously submitted forms, navigate to different menus, or access settings. This prevents accidental data tampering or unauthorized app usage.

Offline Functionality:

  • Depending on the app’s configuration, kiosk mode would allow users to fill out forms even without an internet connection. The data would be stored locally on the device and automatically synced to the cloud when an internet connection is available.
  • Note: Both FormConnect Pro and FormConnect Pro+ support working offline but only FormConnect Pro+  syncs to iCloud.

Benefits of Kiosk Mode:

  • Simplified User Experience: Users only see the relevant form and buttons, minimizing confusion and ensuring they focus on completing the form.
  • Improved Data Collection Efficiency: Kiosk mode streamlines the data collection process, making it faster and easier for users to submit information on the device.
  • Enhanced Data Security: By restricting access to other app features, kiosk mode helps prevent accidental data breaches or unauthorized modifications.
  • Offline Capability: Allows users to fill out forms even in areas with limited or no internet connectivity.

Use Cases for Kiosk Mode:

  • Customer Surveys: Capture customer feedback in retail stores, restaurants, or event venues.
  • Patient Registration: Streamline patient intake processes in hospitals or clinics.
  • Event Sign-Ups: Allow attendees to register for events or workshops using an iPad at the venue.
  • Lead Capture: Collect lead information at trade shows or conferences.

In conclusion, kiosk mode transforms the FormConnect Pro and FormConnect Pro+ apps into a dedicated data collection tool for public settings. It provides a user-friendly interface, enhances security, and offers optional offline functionality, making it a valuable feature for various data collection scenarios.
